On Wednesday September 18th, the SAME Moody-Valdosta Post had the opportunity to tour the Solar Panel Farm located adjacent to Moody Air Force Base. This facility is located on 254 acres of land and at completion will be a 35 year generating asset for Georgia Power Company.
We began with a safety briefing and then boarded a bus to tour the facility. We learned all about the process of installing the solar panels and how they work. When construction is complete, the facility will provide 49-1/2 mega watts of power. That’s more power than it takes to run Moody AFB!!
They currently have 270 folks working on site and are estimated to complete the project in May of next year.
